Summary: Dean has always measured time by Sam until the day comes that Sam changes that measurement.

Author’s Notes: This story takes place before the season two finale and is an AU in the fact that—among other points—the demon is assumed dead before then.

I’m sure that this idea has probably been written by far more talented people, but as I’ve never read any such story, I thought I’d give this my best shot. If I have stepped on anyone’s toes however, I apologize and assure that it was not intentional.
